Rafael earned his Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Santa Cecilia in 2004. He pursued advanced studies in Sports Physiotherapy at the Federal University of São Paulo and became an assistant professor at Paulista University in 2007. By 2009, he was an Associate Professor, teaching physiotherapy assessment, orthopedics, trauma, and anatomy—one of his passions. His love for anatomy led him to complete a Master’s degree in Cell and Structural Biology in 2013, focusing on muscle healing and the inflammatory process. He is also an Affiliated Clinical Educator at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta.

Rafael is certified as a specialist in Orthopedics and Trauma Physiotherapy by the Brazilian Physiotherapy Association. His expertise extends to treating a wide range of multi-systemic conditions, including TMJ and Parkinson's, as well as caring for the elderly and patients with chronic pain. His treatment methods include dry needling, Mulligan techniques, Isostretching (postural) and pain management. Rafael’s strong manual therapy skills, including spinal manipulation, and his educational approach is aimed to ensure the best outcomes for his clients.

Notably, Rafael is the only physiotherapist in Alberta trained in **FASCIAL COUNTERSTRAIN (counterstrain.com)**, a cutting-edge hands-on therapy that releases spasms in virtually all body tissues. Outside of work, Rafael enjoys family time and staying active through soccer and biking.
